Saving the Seals

This is Brie. Brie was found alone on a busy shore on San Juan Island. When she arrived at Wolf Hollow, the staff determined she was just a few days old.

Brie was thin and dehydrated. She suffered from small puncture wounds on her face and an infected umbilicus. Although vulnerable, she was alert and vocal – making loud sounds. She was placed in Wolf Hollow's seal pup nursery and given a high-fat formula specially designed to help her gain weight.

Over the next 2 months in care at Wolf Hollow, Brie grew stronger and her wounds slowly healed completely. In September 2018, Brie was returned back to the wild waters of the Salish Sea!

Each summer Wolf Hollow receives seal pups who are injured or separated from their mothers. Wolf Hollow receives these pups from various locations along Washington States shore lines as one of two of the centers able to care for these vulnerable babies.

Since 1982, Wolf Hollow has treated more than 18,900 injured and orphaned wild animals.
